Maus is a graphic novel set during the
Holocaust. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about
history. This book shows both what happened to the writer’s Jewish father
during World War 2 and how these events affected his father’s
personality and life. This novel uses mice to represent Jewish
people, cats to represent Germans, and pigs to represent Polish people.
The illustrations helped me to understand and concentrate on the story;
the first person point of view helped me to
understand the feelings of the writer and his father more deeply.
The Call of the Wild is an adventure novel that will appeal to
readers who like adventure and nature. The main character, Buck, is a dog who
has an adventure from civilized world to the natural world. Buck lived in the
civilized world until he was secretly sold as a sled dog. He endured
cruel and painful experiences in Alaska as a sled dog, but he overcame them and
discovered his true self in the natural
world. I enjoyed reading this novel because it gives detailed descriptions of nature,
sled dogs’ life in Alaska, and the Gold Rush in Canada during the 19th century.
The Little Prince is a classic novel about the
adventure of a little prince who came from another planet. I would
recommend this book to children, teens, and adults. This novel contains many wise
sayings and some important morals. I enjoyed reading this novel because it
provides many significant life lessons.
