Two adventure books by the same author: Into Thin Air & Into the Wild

Contributed by Jennifer, grade 12 -- Spring 2018

This book is a true, personal account of the disaster that struck a climbing group at Mt. Everest in 1996. The book vividly describes the incident and introduces a broader theme -- how commercialization has changed Mt. Everest.

The book slowly triggered my curiosity about the ominous and heartbreaking incident. It also made me see the beauty of humanity and the importance of a team. By the time I finished reading, felt a great gratitude of respect for the people who have attempted to summit of Mt. Everest, enduring overwhelming physical and mental struggles.

I would recommend this book to grades 9-12. It is easy to read, explains the incident in detail, and highlights how humans can be vulnerable and invincible at the same time.

This book will take you on an emotional yet inspiring journey while you follow a life and death of a young man in Alaska.

Chris McCandless burns his money, sells his possessions and embarks on a life-changing journey. This book is all about personal discovery and finding the true meaning of life.

I personally found this book very interesting because the protagonist did something that every one thinks about doing, but never actually does. I would recommend this book to anyone who needs motivation in life, or longs for adventure.
